The size of the City of Melton's labour force in low income households in 2021 was 5,512, of which 2,243 were employed part-time and 1,253 were full time workers.

Analysis of the employment status of people in low income households (as a percentage of the labour force) in the City of Melton in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a lower proportion of people in low income households in employment, and a higher proportion unemployed. Overall, 72.5% of the labour force was employed, and 27.5% unemployed, compared with 73.6% and 26.4% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
