Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by recent overseas arrivals in City of Melton in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (1,084 persons or 23.3%)
  • Labourers (653 persons or 14.1%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (627 persons or 13.5%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 2,364 people in total or 50.9% of the employed recent overseas arrivals.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 26.6% in Professionals; 15.3% in Labourers; and 12.0% in Technicians and Trades Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the recent overseas arriving population of the City of Melton and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of people employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (12.4% compared to 8.6%)
