Analysis of the car ownership of the households with recent arrivals in the City of Melton in 2011 compared to Greater Sydney shows that 94.5% of recent arrivals were in households who owned at least one car, while 3.0% did not, compared with 80.0% and 16.9% respectively in Greater Melbourne.

Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a smaller proportion who owned just one car; a larger proportion who owned two cars; and a larger proportion who owned three cars or more.
