Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of recent overseas arrivals in the City of Maroondah in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a lower proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a higher proportion of people with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 58.4% of recent overseas arrivals aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 38.8% had no qualifications, compared with 66.5% and 29.8% respectively for Greater Melbourne.

The major differences between qualifications held by the recent overseas arriving population of the City of Maroondah and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of people with No qualifications (38.8% compared to 29.8%)
