Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Marion in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (9,691 people or 20.3%)
  • Education and Training (4,611 people or 9.6%)
  • Retail Trade (4,488 people or 9.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 18,790 people in total or 39.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Adelaide employed 17.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.0% in Education and Training; and 9.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Marion and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (20.3% compared to 17.1%)
