Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Maribyrnong in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (5,877 people or 12.5%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (5,047 people or 10.7%)
  • Education and Training (4,353 people or 9.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 15,277 people in total or 32.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 13.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 8.8% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Maribyrnong and Greater Melbourne were:
