Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in East Precinct in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (674 people or 12.6%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (634 people or 11.9%)
- Education and Training (520 people or 9.7%)
In combination, these three industries employed 1,828 people in total or 34.2% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Stony Creek Ward employed 12.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 8.6% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of East Precinct and Stony Creek Ward were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (11.9% compared to 9.2%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (9.5% compared to 7.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (3.9% compared to 6.4%)

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in East Precinct were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+249 persons)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+219 persons)
- Public Administration and Safety (+149 persons)
- Financial and Insurance Services (+122 persons)
