Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by the population of Doncaster East in 2011 compared to City of Manningham shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 51.4% of the population spoke English only, and 45.8% spoke a non-English language, compared with 58.3% and 38.8% respectively for City of Manningham.

The dominant language spoken at home, other than English, in Doncaster East was Cantonese, with 13.4% of the population, or 3,577 people speaking this language at home.
