Dominant groups

Analysis of the language used at home by the population of the City of Manningham in 2021 compared to Templestowe shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who used English only, and a larger proportion of those using a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 50.7% of the population used English only, and 46.3% used a non-English language, compared with 51.7% and 44.9% respectively for Templestowe.

The dominant language used at home, other than English, in the City of Manningham was Mandarin, with 13.9% of the population, or 17,341 people using this language at home.

The major difference between the languages used at home for the population of the City of Manningham and Templestowe in 2021 was:
