Dominant groups

Analysis of the service age groups of Division 9 in 2021 compared to Logan City shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) as well as a similar proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 26.4% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 18.5% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 26.6% and 18.3% respectively for Logan City.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 9 and Logan City were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Older workers & pre-retirees' (14.6% compared to 11.5%)
  • A larger percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (21.5% compared to 20.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Young workforce' (10.9% compared to 14.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Babies and pre-schoolers' (6.0% compared to 7.2%)

Emerging groups

From 2011 to 2021, Division 9's population increased by 4,703 people (23.7%). This represents an average annual population change of 2.15% per year over the period.

The largest changes in the age structure in this area between 2011 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • Seniors (70 to 84) (+1,056 people)
  • Older workers and pre-retirees (50 to 59) (+972 people)
  • Empty nesters and retirees (60 to 69) (+845 people)
  • Young workforce (25 to 34) (+660 people)
