Dominant groups

Analysis of the service age groups of Division 11 in 2021 compared to Logan City shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 28.6% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 15.3% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 26.8% and 18.2% respectively for Logan City.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 11 and Logan City were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (21.7% compared to 19.9%)
  • A larger percentage of 'Older workers & pre-retirees' (13.0% compared to 11.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Seniors' (5.9% compared to 7.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Young workforce' (12.6% compared to 14.5%)

Emerging groups

From 2006 to 2021, Division 11's population increased by 10,879 people (70.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 3.62% per year over the period.

The largest changes in the age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • Parents and homebuilders (35 to 49) (+1,665 people)
  • Older workers and pre-retirees (50 to 59) (+1,588 people)
  • Empty nesters and retirees (60 to 69) (+1,410 people)
  • Young workforce (25 to 34) (+1,310 people)
