More Division 3 female residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Division 3's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Division 3 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,369 females or 23.3%)
  • Education and Training (843 females or 14.3%)
  • Retail Trade (598 females or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,810 females in total or 47.8% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Logan City employed 23.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.3% in Education and Training; and 12.0% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Division 3 and Logan City were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (14.3% compared to 12.3%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (5.9% compared to 4.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (10.2% compared to 12.0%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Division 3 increased by 542 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Division 3 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+219 females)
  • Construction (+66 females)
  • Retail Trade (-64 females)
  • Education and Training (+61 females)
