This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Division 10 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,599 males or 23.6%)
  • Manufacturing (698 males or 10.3%)
  • Retail Trade (528 males or 7.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,825 males in total or 41.6% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Logan City employed 19.8% in Construction; 12.4% in Manufacturing; and 8.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Division 10 and Logan City were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (23.6% compared to 19.8%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.3% compared to 4.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (7.2% compared to 10.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (10.3% compared to 12.4%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Division 10 increased by 177 between 2006 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2006 and 2021 in Division 10 were for those employed in:

  • Manufacturing (-424 males)
  • Construction (+247 males)
  • Wholesale trade (-186 males)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+139 males)
