In 2021, the largest age group in Division 4 was 0 to 4 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 10 to 14 year olds, increasing by 995 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 4 in 2021 compared to Meadowbrook shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 26.1% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.7% and 13.5% respectively for Meadowbrook.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 4 and Meadowbrook were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (9.1% compared to 5.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (8.7% compared to 6.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (4.2% compared to 6.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (5.2% compared to 6.8%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Division 4's population increased by 8,710 people (44.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 7.66% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 10 to 14 (+995 persons)
  • 5 to 9 (+945 persons)
  • 0 to 4 (+885 persons)
  • 35 to 39 (+814 persons)
