Dominant groups

Analysis of the language used at home by the population of Green Valley in 2021 compared to Liverpool LGA shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who used English only, and a larger proportion of those using a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 27.5% of the population used English only, and 67.1% used a non-English language, compared with 39.5% and 53.8% respectively for Liverpool LGA.

The dominant language used at home, other than English, in Green Valley was Vietnamese, with 13.9% of the population, or 1,802 people using this language at home.

The major differences between the languages used at home for the population of Green Valley and Liverpool LGA in 2021 were:

  • A larger percentage using Vietnamese at home (13.9% compared to 5.3%)
  • A larger percentage using Assyrian/Aramaic at home (6.8% compared to 3.0%)
  • A larger percentage using Lao at home (3.0% compared to 0.6%)
