Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Prestons in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (906 people or 13.5%)
  • Retail Trade (667 people or 10.0%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (642 people or 9.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,215 people in total or 33.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Liverpool LGA employed 13.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.9% in Retail Trade; and 8.2% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Prestons and Liverpool LGA were:
