Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Liverpool LGA in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (6,448 males or 13.5%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (5,530 males or 11.6%)
  • Manufacturing (5,070 males or 10.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 17,048 males in total or 35.8% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 13.1% in Construction; 7.3% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; and 6.9% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Liverpool LGA and Greater Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (11.6% compared to 7.3%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in manufacturing (10.6% compared to 6.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (5.8% compared to 11.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (4.2% compared to 7.1%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Liverpool LGA increased by 1,545 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Liverpool LGA were for those employed in:

  • Construction (-879 males)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+774 males)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+591 males)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+432 males)
