Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Liverpool LGA in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (12,455 people or 13.8%)
  • Retail Trade (8,925 people or 9.9%)
  • Construction (7,633 people or 8.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 29,013 people in total or 32.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Austral employed 14.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.2% in Retail Trade; and 11.2% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Liverpool LGA and Austral were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (6.7% compared to 4.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (5.0% compared to 3.2%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (8.2% compared to 6.5%)
