Analysis of the housing tenure of non-English speakers in the City of Knox in 2011 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a larger proportion of non-English speakers in households who owned their dwelling; a larger proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a smaller proportion who were renters.

Overall, 31.1% of non-English speakers were in households who owned their dwelling; 54.3% were purchasing, and 12.2% were renting, compared with 29.6%, 38.8% and 28.3% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
