Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by recent overseas arrivals in City of Knox in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (792 persons or 28.1%)
  • Labourers (356 persons or 12.6%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (316 persons or 11.2%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,464 people in total or 51.9% of the employed recent overseas arrivals.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 26.6% in Professionals; 15.3% in Labourers; and 12.9% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the recent overseas arriving population of the City of Knox and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of people employed as Managers (10.9% compared to 8.0%)
  • A larger percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (10.0% compared to 7.6%)
