Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Joondalup in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (11,392 people or 13.6%)
  • Construction (9,658 people or 11.5%)
  • Education and Training (9,210 people or 11.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 30,260 people in total or 36.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Perth employed 14.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.9% in Construction; and 8.8% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Joondalup and Greater Perth were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (11.5% compared to 8.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (11.0% compared to 8.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (2.9% compared to 4.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (4.0% compared to 5.3%)
