Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Iluka in 2021 compared to the City of Joondalup shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 16.4% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 13.0% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.7% and 18.0% respectively for the City of Joondalup.

The major differences between the age structure of Iluka and the City of Joondalup were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 55 to 59 (10.9% compared to 6.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (11.0% compared to 7.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 35 to 39 (3.7% compared to 6.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (2.6% compared to 5.5%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Iluka's population increased by 402 people (7.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.48% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 60 to 64 (+198 persons)
  • 55 to 59 (+155 persons)
  • 65 to 69 (+142 persons)
  • 45 to 49 (-96 persons)
