Dominant groups

Analysis of the country of birth of people aged 0 to 4 years in the City of Joondalup in 2011 compared to Western Australia shows that there was a larger proportion of people born overseas, and a larger proportion of people from a non-English speaking background.

Overall, 7.4% of people aged 0 to 4 years were born overseas, and 1.7% were from a non-English speaking background, compared with 5.5% and 2.7% respectively for Western Australia.

The largest non-English speaking country of birth for people aged 0 to 4 years in the City of Joondalup was South Africa, where 1.2% or 110 people aged 0 to 4 years were born.
