Dominant groups
Analysis of the unpaid child care provided by the non-English speaking population in the Inner West Council in 2021 compared to the total population in the Inner West Council shows that there was a lower proportion of persons who provided unpaid child care either to their own or to other children. Overall, 21.4% of the non-English speaking population provided unpaid child care, compared with 22.0% for the total population in the Inner West Council.
The major differences between the share of the non-English speaking population providing unpaid child care in Inner West Council area and the total population in the Inner West Council were:
- A larger percentage who did not provide care for children (76.9% compared to 72.9%)
- A smaller percentage who provided unpaid childcare for own child/ren (18.2% compared to 19.3%)
