Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Birchgrove in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (338 people or 20.0%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (229 people or 13.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (218 people or 12.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 785 people in total or 46.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Ashfield (North) employed 11.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 7.2% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 16.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Birchgrove and Ashfield (North) were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (20.0% compared to 11.9%)
