Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Inner West Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (9,189 females or 17.7%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (7,646 females or 14.8%)
  • Education and Training (7,119 females or 13.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 23,954 females in total or 46.3% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Ashfield (North) employed 25.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 13.0% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Inner West Council area and Ashfield (North) were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (14.8% compared to 11.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in information media and telecommunications (4.5% compared to 2.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (17.7% compared to 25.0%)
