Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Hume City in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (10,555 males or 18.7%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (7,805 males or 13.8%)
  • Manufacturing (6,323 males or 11.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 24,683 males in total or 43.7% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 15.2% in Construction; 7.2% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; and 9.0% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Hume City and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (13.8% compared to 7.2%)
