Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in NSROC Region in 2021 compared to New South Wales shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 35.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.2% were one-parent families, compared with 30.8% and 10.6% respectively for New South Wales.

There were a similar proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 23.8% compared to 23.7% in New South Wales while the proportion of couples without children was 25.4% compared to 25.0% in New South Wales.

Emerging groups

The number of households in NSROC Region increased by 48,799 between 2001 and 2021.

The largest changes in family/household types in NSROC Region between 2001 and 2021 were:

  • Couples with children (+19,519 households)
  • Couples without children (+15,228 households)
  • Lone person (+12,550 households)
  • One parent families (+4,966 households)
