Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Newport in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (914 people or 12.4%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (832 people or 11.2%)
  • Education and Training (766 people or 10.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,512 people in total or 34.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Hobsons Bay City employed 9.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 11.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.5% in Education and Training.
