Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the Shire of Harvey in 2021 compared to Regional WA shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 32.3% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.2% were one-parent families, compared with 23.8% and 8.7% respectively for Regional WA.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 19.4% compared to 23.2% in Regional WA while the proportion of couples without children was 30.2% compared to 25.7% in Regional WA.

The number of households in Shire of Harvey increased by 968 between 2016 and 2021.
