Analysis of the household/family types in Gunnedah Shire in 2021 compared to New England and North West SA4 shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 26.4% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.6% were one-parent families, compared with 22.4% and 10.7% respectively for New England and North West SA4.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 25.0% compared to 27.0% in New England and North West SA4 while the proportion of couples without children was 24.5% compared to 26.6% in New England and North West SA4.
