Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Gunnedah Shire in 2021 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- Australian (5,890 people or 45.5%)
- English (4,911 people or 38.0%)
- Australian Aboriginal (1,866 people or 14.4%)
- Irish (1,368 people or 10.6%)
- Scottish (1,229 people or 9.5%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 15,264 responses in total, or 117.99% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in Gunnedah Shire and Regional NSW were:
