The size of Gosford City's labour force in 2011 was 75,656, of which 27,245 were employed part-time and 42,319 were full time workers.

Analysis of the employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) in Gosford City in 2011 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a similar proportion in employment, as well as a similar proportion unemployed. Overall, 93.9% of the labour force was employed (53.8% of the population aged 15+), and 6.1% unemployed (3.5% of the population aged 15+), compared with 94.3% and 5.7% respectively for Greater Sydney.
