Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Glenelg Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,134 females or 26.9%)
  • Education and Training (481 females or 11.4%)
  • Retail Trade (444 females or 10.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,059 females in total or 48.9% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Regional VIC employed 26.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.1% in Education and Training; and 11.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Glenelg Shire and Regional VIC were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (9.0% compared to 4.5%)
