Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Glenelg Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (862 males or 18.7%)
  • Manufacturing (816 males or 17.7%)
  • Construction (562 males or 12.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,240 males in total or 48.7% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Portland Surrounds employed 9.8% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 25.8% in Manufacturing; and 13.1% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Glenelg Shire and Portland Surrounds were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (18.7% compared to 9.8%)
