Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in St George Region in 2021 compared to Georges River Council area shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 33.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.4% were one-parent families, compared with 36.2% and 10.8% respectively for Georges River Council area.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 22.0% compared to 20.4% in Georges River Council area while the proportion of couples without children was 24.2% compared to 23.7% in Georges River Council area.

The number of households in St George Region increased by 8,309 between 2016 and 2021.
