Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Gannawarra Shire in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (1,046 people or 23.9%)
  • Retail Trade (510 people or 11.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (461 people or 10.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,017 people in total or 46.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional VIC employed 7.8% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 11.6% in Retail Trade; and 13.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
