Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Karingal in 2011 compared to Frankston City shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 23.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 17.1% were one-parent families, compared with 29.8% and 13.7% respectively for Frankston City.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 26.6% compared to 25.1% in Frankston City while the proportion of couples without children was 24.0% compared to 23.1% in Frankston City.
