Analysis of the weekly housing rental payments of households in Douglas (S) compared to Cairns (R) shows that there was a larger proportion of households paying high rental payments ($450 per week or more), as well as a larger proportion of households with low rental payments (less than $250 per week).
Overall, 20.7% of households were paying high rental payments, and 25.1% were paying low payments, compared with 18.7% and 20.8% respectively in Cairns (R).
The major differences between the housing rental payments of Douglas (S) and Cairns (R) were:
- A larger percentage of $850+ (6.8% compared to 0.9%)
- A larger percentage of $150-$199 (7.9% compared to 5.4%)
- A smaller percentage of $400-$449 (7.3% compared to 11.7%)
- A smaller percentage of $350-$399 (13.9% compared to 16.5%)
