Analysis of the weekly housing rental payments of households in Cook (S) compared to Cairns (R) shows that there was a smaller proportion of households paying high rental payments ($450 per week or more), and a larger proportion of households with low rental payments (less than $250 per week).
Overall, 6.8% of households were paying high rental payments, and 46.5% were paying low payments, compared with 18.7% and 20.8% respectively in Cairns (R).
The major differences between the housing rental payments of Cook (S) and Cairns (R) were:
- A larger percentage of Less than $100 (16.6% compared to 2.0%)
- A larger percentage of $100-$149 (12.1% compared to 4.3%)
- A smaller percentage of $400-$449 (2.2% compared to 11.7%)
- A smaller percentage of $350-$399 (7.7% compared to 16.5%)
