Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils compared to Croydon (S) shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 5.6% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 2.6% for Croydon (S).
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Mareeba (S) and Croydon (S) were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (48.1% compared to 0.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (25.7% compared to 0.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (15.1% compared to 0.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (9.5% compared to 0.0%)
