Fairfield City

Housing tenure

reset

In Fairfield City, 91.5% of Macedonian speakers were in households who were purchasing or fully owned their home, 4.6% were renting privately, and 2.5% were in social housing in 2021.

Fairfield City's Housing Tenure data provides insights into its socio-economic status as well as the role it plays in the housing market. For non-English speaking populations, housing tenure shows how migrants are accommodated in the area. This is highly correlated with the age of migrant communities - older communities are likely to have more home ownership. In some areas, public housing is an important tenure type for migrants, even long established communities.

Please note that in the 2021 Census, households occupying their dwelling rent free were moved into the "Other tenure type" category. Due to this it is likely that this category will show an increase in the 2021 year compared to earlier years. The numbers are small and expected to have minimal effect on the overall trend

To build a more complete picture of the story of the area for the non-English speaking population, Housing Tenure data should be viewed in conjunction with Dwelling Type, Household Income and Age Structure data.
