Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Smithfield in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (462 people or 12.6%)
  • Manufacturing (387 people or 10.5%)
  • Retail Trade (383 people or 10.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,232 people in total or 33.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Wakeley employed 12.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.9% in Manufacturing; and 10.6% in Retail Trade.
