Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by children aged 5 to 11 years in Fairfield City in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 35.3% of children aged 5 to 11 years spoke English only, and 56.2% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 62.5% and 32.4% respectively for Greater Sydney.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by children aged 5 to 11 years in Fairfield City was Vietnamese, with 16.9% of the population, or 3,030 people speaking this language at home.
