Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council compared to EMRC area shows that there was a similar proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 5.3% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.8% for EMRC area.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in the City of Bayswater and EMRC area were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (53.2% compared to 49.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (28.8% compared to 27.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (17.1% compared to 16.1%)
