Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Northcote in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2,444 people or 16.4%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,267 people or 15.2%)
  • Education and Training (1,864 people or 12.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,575 people in total or 44.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Victoria employed 8.4% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 14.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.8% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Northcote and Victoria were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (16.4% compared to 8.4%)
