Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Northcote in 2021 compared to Victoria shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 26.0% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 7.3% were one-parent families, compared with 30.9% and 10.2% respectively for Victoria.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 29.3% compared to 24.7% in Victoria while the proportion of couples without children was 24.2% compared to 24.6% in Victoria.
