Settlement history
Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, although population was minimal until the 1880s. Growth took place during the late 1800s and early 1900s, aided by improved access and the construction of water reservoirs. Significant development occurred during the 1950s and 1960s, including public housing construction. The population has increased marginally since the early 1990s, a result of new dwellings being added to the area.
