Settlement history
Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, although population was minimal until the 1880s. Growth took place during the late 1800s, aided by the opening of the railway line. Significant development did not occur until the post-war years. The population has increased marginally since the mid 1990s, a result of some new dwellings being added to the area.
