Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Upper Lachlan Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (692 males or 32.8%)
- Construction (283 males or 13.4%)
- Public Administration and Safety (234 males or 11.1%)
In combination, these three industries employed 1,209 males in total or 57.3% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, Wagga Wagga City employed 5.9% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 14.6% in Construction; and 12.2% in Public Administration and Safety.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Upper Lachlan Shire and Wagga Wagga City were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (32.8% compared to 5.9%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (2.5% compared to 7.5%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in retail trade (4.1% compared to 8.2%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (4.5% compared to 8.7%)
